Program Design & Production

Once we have a sold plan, budget, and timeline in place, the fun really starts! We are fluent in all aspects of the production cycle—whether you want a full program of study, individual courses, or micro-learning content. We will help you avoid the pitfalls and confidently navigate the complexities of the design and development process.
Our involvement with program design and development varies on a case-by-case basis. Think of it as a spectrum that looks something like this:

We Help: If you choose to do things yourself, we can position you for success by providing guidance on any and all aspects of the design and development process. If and when you need assistance of any kind, we are ready to jump into action.
We Partner: We join forces and co-create the design and development of your programs and courses. This approach often creates a synergistic effect, in which we harness the strengths and talents of both our teams.
We Lead: If you prefer that we do all the heavy lifting, we will take complete ownership of the process from start-to-finish. Of course, you will have full transparency into our processes and can get involved as you desire and at any time.
Unlike with other consultancies, you decide how you would like to engage us on this spectrum. Most of our clients find they need something in the middle—a true partnership.
Please keep in mind that most people underestimate the amount of time and effort that goes into creating high-quality learning experiences. Indeed, the design and development process involves myriad interlocking and overlapping steps and stages. These include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing and refining budgets and timelines
  • Fine-tuning and finalizing curriculum maps, content taxonomies, learner pathways, and other pedagogic elements
  • Building content storyboards and/or scripts for filming
  • All video production (including scheduling locations, crew, and talent; selecting equipment; determining set design; interviewing and/or producing talent; overall on-set leadership)
  • All video post-production (including editing; reviews and revision; aesthetic decision-making, such as b-roll, graphics, on-screen text, animation)
  • Developing ancillary materials (including instructions and descriptions; learning objectives; quizzes; assignments; discussion boards; glossaries; transcripts)
  • Selecting the Learning Management System (LMS) and other technology decision-making
Without a doubt, program design and development is the longest and most complicated phase of the process. This is where the rubber hits the road and where the magic happens. Bottom line—we can help you accomplish all of the above, and whatever else comes up along the way, at the highest levels of quality in terms of both educational value and consumer appeal.
